A Dog is  Man's BEST Friend! They deserve YOUR care.

The dog has long been known as man's best friend. The dog was certainly the first domesticated animal. Throughout the ages a special mutually beneficial relationship has existed between dog and man.

The dog has provided protection and assistance with some of man's tasks such as hunting, tracking and herding. Man in return has provided shelter and food.

Recently the most important relationship that has developed between man and dog has been that of companionship as illustrated in the following quote.

"I talk to him when I'm lonesome like,
and I'm sure he understands.

When he looks at me so attentively,
and gently licks my hands,

Then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes,
but I never say naught thereat,

For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes,
but never a friend like that!"

This site is dedicated in some small way in assisting that relationship. Understand your dog, care for your dog and you will have a friend for life.

You will find advice on choosing a dog or puppy. A well chosen dog that is compatible with you will greatly lessen the behavioural problems that you may experience later in your relationship.

We will discuss dog behaviour in general which will assist you in understanding your dog and his reaction to the environment he finds himself in. Remember a dog has been brought into man's environment and is expected to live according to man's rules.

Surely the least man can do is to learn to understand what makes a dog "tick" Behavioural problems are a result of the dog not being able to adapt to an unnatural environment. They are not an indication of a bad dog.

Help will be offered on specific behavioural problems.

How to stop your barking dog worrying the neighbours....to stop chewing your furniture....take your dog for a walk confident that he won't show aggression....to stop urinating in the hallway whenever you arrive home from work....stop him stealing your socks.

In fact a myriad of dog behavioural problems will be discussed.

In our dog training section you'll learn how to train your dog to sit, stay, down, come when called, and all the other niceties that will make your dog a model citizen.

Remember, a well trained dog is a pleasure to own.

Later we'll have sections on the history of the dog as well as information on dog breeds. We'll also provide advice on dog nutrition and care.

To you and your best friend
