Dog Training Book

Exactly what makes a good dog training book. Well! In my opinion a good dog training book contains more than just how to teach your dog the basic commands of come, sit, down, stay, heel, how to walk on a lead and not to make a mess in the house.

Let's examine a few things that should be in any dog obedience training book.

Firstly a decent dog training book should discuss the relationship between owner/ trainer and dog. It should answer questions as to how this relationship can be built into something great and what can destroy or harm this relationship.

A good dog training book should advocate a totally dog friendly training system. Dog training should be encouraged by a gentle reward system and any decent book should adhere to a dog friendly approach.

There is absolutely no excuse for harsh training methods i.e. any method that causes the dog even the slightest distress.

In addition a dog training book should cover the following:

  • Understanding your dog, what makes him tick, relationship building and training mindset.
  • Dog training method based on reward system.
  • Training of all ages of dog, which includes the puppy and adult and mature dog.
  • Training suitable to all dog temperaments. i.e. how to train an aggressive dog, how to train a timid dog, what to do when your dog simply lacks interest.
Further a good dog training book should also help solve behavioural problems. Obviously a dog training book cannot be a guide to all dog behavioural problems, but it should at least cover the basic problems of aggression, barking and destructive behaviour.

After reading a good dog training book the reader should feel that not only is he/she better equipped to train a dog, the reader should also have a far better understanding of dog psychology which can be used to form a strong relationship between owner and dog.

With the above in mind here are what I consider to be the three best dog training books on the internet. All of these dog training books can be downloaded immediately and you can start training your dog in a matter of minutes.

I highly recommend these books. They are all excellent, choose the one that seems most suited to your requirements, you can't go wrong with any of these books.
